Turkish Airlines which recently introduced one of its newest aircraft
Airbus A330 to the Istanbul-Lagos route on September 25 has introduced
another wide bodied aircraft, Airbus A340 to the route.
The Managing Director of the airline, Mr. Abdallah Pinar, said “the
introduction of another state-of-the-art aircraft is a fulfillment of
our promise to bring an Airbus A340 at the beginning of the winter
flight season starting on September 25.”
He added that: “Having seen the response of our Nigerian passengers to
the afternoon departure from Lagos to Istanbul, we believe it is high
time we introduce the A340 aircraft to the route which has continued to
grow to the satisfaction of our passengers and the airline”.
According to him, the new aircraft has individual entertainment system
and leader seats in all the classes. “It is our determination to serve
our Nigerian passengers much better in a relaxed atmosphere.
“This is coupled with the fact that we operate a very competitive fare
and there is no transit visa required as long as the passenger has
travelling documents to his destination,” he said.
Pinar further stated that the airline has continued to win the best
baggage handling airline in Europe with its least delayed or missing
baggage record.
National Mirror gathered that of the 26 airlines rated by the Air
Transport Users' Council, Turkish Airlines was rated the first in
baggage handling with a 4.5 in 1,000 delayed and missing baggage. It
has a reduction from 4.7 in 2006 to 4.5 in 2007.
