Short Story Ali the driver

Short Story Ali the driver

When Ali finished school, his uncle said “Do you want to be a mechanic, Ali? Do you want to learn how to repair cars? Ali though for some time. He didn't want to work in an office and he didn't want to be a plumber or an electrician.
'Yes,' he said, 'I would like to be a mechanic'. He began work next day. He learnt how to repair tyres and how to change engine oil. His uncle taught him how to repair the brakes and how to spray the car to give it a new coat of paint. After three years, he decided to take driving lessons. When he passed his driving test he was happy and he applied for a job as a driver he drove heavy lorries, Ali liked  driving fast.
Be careful, said his employer. Be careful, said the policemen, be careful, said his Uncle and his parents.
But Ali, listened to nobody, I am king of the road, he sang as he drove recklessly along the road. I am the greatest.' One day a dog ran into the road. Ali was going on such a speed that he didn't know if it was a goat or a child.
He swerved to the opposite side of the road to avoid it and he hit a car-Ali didn't die, but he was in hospital for three months. His uncle came to see him 'Uncle he said. I have learnt a lesson. I'm not king of the road. No one is. I was driving too fast.
I might have killed myself. I might have killed another person. There is no sense in driving fast and I shall be a careful driver in the future.
