Re: Shall We Tell The Vice President?

Re: Shall We Tell The Vice President?

Last week this column credited a statement about different interest group visiting vee-pee from N/Delta to Ima Niboro, the Vice-President's spokes person.
He was quoted out of context, not with the writer, but in an interview with a newspaper, that “I am comforted by the knowledge that many leaders of the N/Delta across the broadcast spectrums have been carried along on the issue concerning the summit. Various groups have been hosted in this office in order to chart a way forward for the Niger Delta. But you know the N/Delta has a wide range of ethnic and sub-ethnic groups, so, it might have been difficult to speak to everyone. Such an enterprise would have taken more than a year to achieve. But even at that, when the Vice President was meeting the various groups almost on a weekly basis, there were already snide remarks that he was carrying on as V.P of Nigeria.
The underline intention of the opinion was to highlight the factors vee-pee is facing on N/Delta issue, for critics to better appreciate the challenges he's facing.
Any inconveniency caused to the person of Niboro his regretted.
