Plot To Impeach Mimiko Thickens ....As PDP Lawmakers Hold Secret Meetings In Abuja
By AYODEJI MORADEYO, Akure

Peoples Democratic Party lawmakers in the Ondo State House of Assembly are allegedly making surreptitious moves to lobby some PDP legislators in the National Assembly representing Ondo State into their fold to get the 2/3 majority needed to impeach the incumbent  governor, Dr.  Segun  Mimiko.
Already, the leadership of the assembly  is said to have started holding meetings with the caucus of the Ondo State lawmakers in the lower and upper chambers of the National Assembly.
Saturday Mirror's  Correspondent gathered that one in the series of the meetings was held last Thursday in Abuja with the Ondo State PDP caucus in the National Assembly.
At the meeting which was attended by the Speaker and his deputy, it was learnt that how to lure some of the ruling party lawmakers was the highpoint of the meeting which lasted for several hours.
Though the outcome of the meeting. There are indications that Ondo State lawmakers are planning to impeach Governor Olusegun Mimiko. The latest in the plot is the recent constitution of caretaker committee chairmen by Governor Olusegun Mimiko shortly after an Akure High Court judgement.
Though the Governor later changed the title of the caretaker committee chairmen to interim committee heads, the action of the governor has continued to irritate the lawmakers.
It will be recalled that the Governor had carried out similar action when he dissolved the councils shortly after he regained his mandate.
This generated a lot of controversy which pitched the PDP lawmakers against the governor who they accused of taking  unilateral decisions without passing through the house.
The hostilities between Mimiko and the PDP legislators were however rekindled last week when the Governor carried out what they described as another illegality.
The PDP lawmakers who are relying on their strength are looking for a possible way to woo some lawmakers to their side from the ruling party camp.
At present the Ondo State House of Assembly is made up of 15 PDP lawmakers, 9  Labour Party members and 1 Alliance for Democracy member.
Any attempt by the PDP lawmakers to get members of the ruling party legislators into their fold will be a plus to the PDP camp who are dissatisfied with the way there are being rubbished by the present administration.
A source in the Assembly told Saturday Mirror Correspondent that the PDP lawmakers are ready to work with the present administration but was unhappy about the shoddy treatment being meted to them by Governor Olusegun Mimiko.
