EFCC Board Members Speak: We Will Take  EFCC To The Next Level—Anasor

Tell us about yourself?
happen to have come from a very large family. My grand father married 36 wives. So I am from a very large family. Integrity is what my family is known for. I did diploma in Banking and Finance in University of 10s. I obtained a B.Sc and an LL.B from Unijos. I did my MBA in Imo State University and went to law school. Soon I will be defending my master's thesis in Law in Unijos. I worked in the banking sector for many years. Now, I am a consultant.
You are coming on board of the EFCC at a critical time, what exactly are you bringing to the commission?
First I must say that our predecessor started from nowhere, we are to build on what they left for us. Two, Nigeria and Nigerians expect so much from us; EFCC is the only agency that can give Nigeria the name and image that the people want. As a matter of fact, we believe we must work together and clean up the mess. Luckily we have a chairman that has good pedigree. Like she said, there will be no sacred cows in this fight but our focus is more on prevention rather than enforcement.
We have come a long way, having gone through all that screening; we can't afford to fail Nigerians. We are asking Nigeria be patient with our chairman. Let's give her a chance first to deliver on her mandate.
Before you came on board, there was so much criticism, but the chairman came and said there will be no sacred cows, what assurance do you want to also give to Nigerians?
Note that our appointment was not based on ethnic consideration. If you look at the Curriculum Vitae of all of us, you will discover that we have made it in other areas, so why not here?
We really want to achieve. We want Nigerians to count on us. I have worked in the bank for 15 years and left honorably. It is a place of trust. If I could do it there, why not here.
We are no saints; if you discover certain things, let us know. It is our own country. We don't expect foreigners to come and build this country for us. We want to take this commission to the next level.
Where do you expect to sees the EFCC in next four years?
1 made a statement when I was being screened about other countries coming here to learn our system. Here we are talking of modeling our agency after FBI, CIA. After our tenure, other nations will come here to learn the workings of EFCC.
