LASPOTECH Wins 2 Gold, 16 Other Medals At WAPOGA

Lagos State Polytechnic's team to the recently concluded 2nd West African Polytechnic Games (WAPOGA) in Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast returned with 19 medals (2 gold, 9 silver and 8bronze) on Tuesday, 7th October, 2008 to the Ikorodu Campus.
LASPOTECH participated in six games, athletics, tennis, judo, taekwando, chess and swimming . The Polytechnic won medals in four of the games, Judo (1 gold), Tennis (1 gold, 3 silver), Chess (6 bronze) and athletics (6 silver, 2 bronze).
Also at the games were 30 Polytechnics from Nigeria, Tamale, Sunyani, Takoradi, Cape Coast, Ho, Koforidua, Accra and Kumasi Polytechnics from Ghana and one Polytechnic each from Benin, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Mali and Burkina Faso.
The Rector, who received the contingent in his office, was overwhelmed with excitement. He also promised to organize a notable reception for the team.
