Leading telecommunications company, MTN Nigeria has reiterated its
commitment to promote economic growth and development in Nigeria by
lending its support to the 14th Nigeria Economic Summit (NES) holding
in in Abuja next Tuesday.
In its fourth year of sponsoring the NESG, MTN is once again a
platinum sponsor of the summit slated for Transcorp Hilton under the
theme "The Race to 2020: The Realities. The Possibilities”. Experts
are expected to examine the challenges facing the nation's economy as
well as come up with a blueprint for the transformation of the economy
by year 2020.
“We are again throwing our weight behind this very important summit
where local and international experts congregate to brainstorm on the
best way possible to transform the country's economy by 2020,” said
Amina Oyagbola, Corporate Services Executive, MTN Nigeria.
“This is consistent with our commitment to support efforts aimed at promoting growth and development in Nigeria”, she said.
According to Mrs Oyagbola, Chairman of MTN Nigeria, Mr. Pascal Dozie
will lead other directors and top executives of the company to
participate at the event which will be declared open by President Umar
Musa Yar'Adua..

become a global economic giant in the nearest future. The NESG is a
vital forum/platform to make this happen. That is why MTN is happy to
give this 14th edition of NES its full support,” said Mrs Oyagbola.
Local and international experts expected at the summit include Hernando
De Soto, President of the Peru-based Institute for Liberty and
Democracy (ILD) Prof. Barth Nnaji, Managing Director, Geometric Power
Limited, Prof. Adesoji Adelaja, former Adviser Agriculture to former
American president, Bill Clinton, Hamish McRea, futurist and author-
The World in 2020, Klaus Endresen, CEO, Vanco Energy Company and Prof.
A. O. Adegbulugbe, among others.
The annual Nigerian Economic Summit (NES) is jointly organised by the
Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), and the National Planning
Commission (NPC) - the Office of the Economic Adviser to the President.
