Compt. Aliyu To Probe Import Duty Underpayments

New dawn has set for the Western Zone of the post- Clearance Audit (PCA) as the new head, Comptroller Aliyu Hassan .has promised to rummage through the past shipping manifests and import duty payment records to uncover huge import-duty underpayments made by importers and freight forwarders.
'Comptroller Aliyu was recently posted to the PCA from the Valuation Unit at the  Customs Headquarters .
Since 1990, when he transferred his Service from the Bauchi State Government to the Customs Service Comptroller Aliyu has garnered so much experience in the Customs functions .
In fact, till date, Comptroller Aliyu remains one of the few experts in valuation, a
critical function of the Nigeria Customs Service.
As the Comptroller in charge of Valuation, Alhaji Aliyu had the rare privilege of heading the Nigeria Customs Technical Committee on Valuation and attended the World Customs Organization (WCO) Technical Sessions in Brussels, Belgium.
This opportunity made Compt. Aliyu to fall in love with the Valuation functions of the customs Compt. Aliyu joined the customs service in 1990 as an Asst, Comptroller. After his training at the customs College, Ikeja, Lagos, he was posted to Kano where he was until 1996 where  he was until 1996 when he was moved to Abuja as Deputy Comptroller Headquarters. In May 1999, he was promoted to full Comptroller and was posted to the Yobe Command as the Customs  Area Administrator  (CAC).
However, in 2001, he served the former Head of Service of the Federation as the Special ,Assistant and in April 2004, he was recalled to the Customs Headquarters as the Comptroller in charge of the C.I. U (Customs Investigation Unit) under the office
of the Comptrol1er-Gcneral. In September 2004, he was posted to Onne as the CAC,  even though it was brief.because of his expertise on Intelligence, Comptroller Aliyu was again in 2006, posted back   to the C.I.U as the Comptroller, while in February 2007, he was posted to valuation, headquarters, as a Comptroller. In. July this year, he was mandated to head the Post Clearance Audit, Western Zone of the Customs.
Since his assumption of office, Comptroller Aliyu and his able lieutenants have been able to recover a lot of import duty under-payment for the federal government.
