She Poisoned My Tea

She Poisoned My Tea

Bernard Diogu, a resident of 2, Clan road Agege, Lagos has pleaded with the President of a Grade “A” Customary Court Agege to dissolve his marriage. He claimed, his wife Florence wanted to kill him.
“My Lord, I have stopped eating at home for a long time, because I had caught her red-handed poisoning the water I wanted to drink.
I stopped eating at home because my water was poisoned and when it was taken for forensic laboratory test, it was discovered that they have mixed sodium chloride with it which is not good for human consumption; and this is the second time that such a thing would happen”. He explained further that when one of his wife's brothers visited him, and wanted to entertain him with a bottle of whiskey she ordered her brother not to accept it because it had been poisoned; now I am fed up with her because I discovered that my life is in danger, said the husband.
But Florence in her defence said her husband was only being economical with the truth.
“Why should I poison my husband? We have been together for many years and God has blessed us with grown up children.
“There was a day I instructed my husband's younger brother to boil water for him to make tea. When the water was boiled, I realised that the water had changed colour but I used the water to prepare his tea; when he tasted the tea, it was salty and he even called me to taste it which I did, then later he started accusing me that I wanted to poison him, and since then he has stopped sleeping at home”.
“I want this honourable court to understand that if truly I poisoned his tea I would not have tasted it. I value human life and I respect my husband, she said. Meanwhile, the case has been adjourned for further hearing.
