First Deepwater Discovery Basketball  Tourney Dunks-Off Today At UNILAG

The much awaited maiden edition of  First Deepwater Discovery Basketball Tournament dunked-off, Thursday at the sports hall, University of Lagos just as First Bank basketball team of Lagos slug it out against Delta Force of Asaba in the opening game.
The three-day dunking and slamming tourney tagged “ Battle For Supremacy” is to feature eight basketball teams from both male and female cadre in which the winners in both categories is expected to cart home the sum of N500, 000 each.
Moreover, in the other matches slated for the day, Union Bank of Lagos will lock horns with Kano Pillars of Kano as Dolphins of Lagos have scores to settle with Sunshine Angels of Akure while the last game of the day is between Ebun Comets and Niger Potters of Niger.
In a chat with the Managing Director of the First Deepwater Discovery Limited, Babatunde Babalola hinted that all the teams would be adequately catered for throughout the tournament as he has made every necessary tool to make it a big success.
Babalola, a former basketball player of Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) stated that his plan in organizing this tournament was to change the face of basketball competition in Nigeria.
