Fuel In Cans: FRSC Vows To Arrest Motorists

The Kano FRSC Command has said that it would arrest motorists and motorcyclists in the metropolis who illegally transport petrol.
The Sector Commander, Mr.Yusuf Garba, gave the warning today in a statement issued in Kano.
Garba said in the statement that the commission was dismayed at the rampant peddling of the commodity in drums and jerry cans by motorists in the area.
This, according to him, constitutes "great danger to other road users''.
He appealed to those involved to desist from the act or risk arrest as the commission was determined to ensure safe transportation in the city.
National Mirror gathered that the fuel scarcity in the city has led to fuel hawkers transporting the commodity on motorcycles and old cars.
Since the fuel crisis re-surfaced in the state last month, National Mirror learnt that hawkers had been purchasing the commodity from the neighbouring states of Katsina, Jigawa and Kaduna.
It is then illegally transported to Kano for sale at exorbitant rates.
Most of the transporters, it was gathered, were commercial motorcyclists popularly known as "Yan Achaba".
